Floral Brooklyn Salted Chocolate Chip Brownies

It feels like the holidays just ended and here we are trying to plan another special occasion. To me, when I think of Valentine’s day, I think of sugar, artificial coloring, and chocolate. Nothing about this excites me because I’m still in the healthy eating mindset right now. I had a hard time deciding on something decadent to make for this special occasion. And of course by no mean am I a good baker but dessert is MUST on Valentine’s day because desserts are the fairytales of the kitchen, a happily ever after to supper.

Before we go into the recipe, you should do know that I did have a little help in making these brownies with a brownie pre-mix.

What did I love about this mix?

✅Easy and simple. You only just need oil, egg, and water.

✅Simple ingredients

✅Clean ingredients. No words you can’t pronounce.

✅Organic ingredients and Non-GMO project verified

✅Fairtrade cocoa

✅140 calories per serving

✅No synthetic flavors, synthetic colors, synthetic preservatives, or synthetic sweeteners; no high fructose corn syrup; no added synthetic trans fat.

⛔17g of sugar per serving

I have been obsessed with drinking rose and orange blossom water because of the health benefit they offer.  So I decided to add them to this brownie mix.

Benefits of drinking rose water:

  • We all know spraying rose water on to our face, it can hydrate our skin. But you may not know that drinking rose water also hydrates the skin, from the inside.
  • Rose water contains powerful antioxidants and supports anti-aging.
  • Drink rose water as a mood enhancer, to relieve stress, calm the nerves, and improve mood.
  • Drink rose water can relieve bloating, upset stomach, and constipation.
  • Rose water contains anti-inflammatory qualities, which are your digestive system’s greatest pal.

How to chose rose and orange blossom water?

Look for single ingredients and no artificial coloring. Especially in orange blossom water, often artificial coloring has been added.

How much of the rose and orange blossom water to use?

When it comes to floral scent and taste, I think this is based on personal preference. No one formula is perfect for everyone. I LOVE rose and orange blossom flavor, so I like to use alot of it. If you do taste your batter (which does contain raw egg), usually the finished brownie will come out less floral than what you sampled. Either the floral water gets evaporated, or the chocolate dominated over. Either way, if you think you put too much, you may be okay! If you do find yourself in a situation where you put way too much floral water, you can sprinkle the provided sea salt on top. I find that sprinkle the sea salt on top does mellow out the floral scent and taste.
