Baked crispy everything bagel drumsticks are my new favorite cold-weather comfort food that hits the spot. It is super easy to make, and the house just smells fantastic from the baking. And also very warm.
I am a big crispy chicken fan. And I am talking about that deep fried, golden colored chicken. There is just something about that crispy, crunchy, tender and juicy chicken that comforts you. But I don’t feel good about it afterward. My body feels super icky from all the grease, even though it is super great for my soul at the time. There are different ways to make crispy chicken, and it can be slightly healthier. You can either use air fryer or bake it. For this recipe, you can do either way. Both ways would save you extra calories than deep frying. I used the baking method because air fryer could dry up the chicken if you don’t time it right.
For this recipe, I used organic drumsticks. Organic chicken is slightly more pricy than conventional, but it is worth everything penny. If you purchase organic chicken it means chicken grower are legally prohibited from using sewage sludge as fertilizer, ingest antibiotics or hormones, synthetic chemicals not approved by the National Organic Program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). If you purchase chicken that is labeled as “natural,” it doesn’t necessarily meet those standards. And top, organic chicken has a better quality of life than conventional chicken! Organic chickens not only get the chance to move freely, but they also eat insects and vegetation such as weeds to supplement their organic feed.
If you are not familiar with everything bagel seasoning, it a blending of poppy seeds, toasted sesame seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and salt. This blend of seasoning literally can go on and with anything from avocado toast to mac and cheese!
To go with this dish, I baked brussels sprouts with it. First, bake the chicken for about 20 minutes, then add the brussels sprouts. Flip over the drumstick and then bake it for another 20 minutes.
